Talking therapy is part of hypnotherapy, hypnosis can take place with your eyes open or with your eyes closed. This has its avantages as it means the client doesn't  need to try to make things happen. This is particulary useful as it does mean that any painful experiences, can be dealt with comfortably and at a rate and speed that’s  appropriate for the person involved.
